Glove your body

Hands up if you want a perfect even tan without getting your hands tangoed in the process?? Well let me introduce you to Glove your body. Glove your body are a fantastic (Irish owned woohoo) business that specialise in the best tanning mitt I have ever used. They also produce an exfoliating mitt for the body and a dual cleansing and exfoliating facial pad. The company itself was set up by the fabulous Valerie Brown. This inspiring woman is running her successful business and dealing with illness at the same time so major kudos goes out to her. I was really interested in trying out the tanning mitt as I was fed up of the cheap flimsy mitts that fall apart after one use. Nothing frustrates me more than during application your finger bursting a hole through the glove to expose your hand. You then spend all your time trying to avoid getting the tan on your exposed hand that it just ends up a complete mess. Plus the hubby refuses to apply the tan to my back if the mitt doesn’t protect his entire hand. I’m not so flexible that I can reach in between the shoulder blades myself ha ha.

I contacted Valerie personally to enquire about her tanning mitt and to tell her about my blog. She loved the idea of the blog and kindly sent me her tanning mitt along with her exfoliating mitt and dual cleansing facial pad to try out. I have to admit I haven’t looked back since. They have definitely made my life a lot easier.

The tanning mitt itself although bulkier than the normal mitts you pick up in the pharmacy is really easy to use. It has finger sections on the inside which helps stop your hand moving around and applies a lovely and even tan. It feels super soft on the skin too. I’m not sure exactly how much tan is absorbed by the mitt itself but I use the handy tip of gently squeezing the mitt to bring the tan to the surface. The overall coverage I get is fantastic, no nasty streaks or blotchy patches. I wash it in the washing machine after each use (at 30°) and it comes up looking like new again. I have to admit it has fast become my new beauty saviour, dare I say a cult beauty product?. I don’t know how many times I’ve nearly flung the other mitts out the window in frustration because of them ripping during use. I find the mitt very durable and I know it will last me a long time if I take good care of it. I know the price (€14.99) seems a bit on the expensive side for a mitt but it really is worth it in the long run considering the poor quality ones cost €4 – €5 and you may only get one or two uses out of them.

Tanning mitt

I use the exfoliating mitt (€9.99) whilst showering in the days prior to applying tan or for when my tan starts to fade away. This mitt ensures the removal of dead skin and product build up to leave you with the perfect blank canvas to apply tan onto. I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate leading up to your tanning session. It’s also very important to moisturise the skin after exfoliation. I always like working with a super clean moisturised base as the tan will always look flawless on application. Never moisturise just before tanning as it can stop the tan adhering to the skin which can result in patchiness. The exfoliating mitt itself is a great little product that does a great job in prepping the skin for tan application.

Exfoliating mitt

The dual cleansing and exfoliating pad (€9.99) cleanses and lightly exfoliates the skin. It is a reversible pad with one side composing of a layer of muslin cloth for removing makeup and the other side a gentle in-built exfoliating layer to remove dirt and dead skin cells from the skin. It is a great little pad that can be washed gently for use again and again. I would caution overly using the exfoliating side as it can be very harsh on the delicate skin of the face.  I only use that side of the pad maybe once week or so.
